Liberian-American Broadway Star, Saycon Sengbloh, To Join Lupita Nyong’o In ‘Eclipsed’

Remember our post about upcoming stage play Eclipsed featuring Lupita Nyong’o? We’ve learned that Saycon Sengbloh, Liberian-American beauty and Broadway seasoned star, has been named as a cast-member in the off-broadway play which is set to open on September 29th in New York.

Eclipsed, set amid the Liberian civil war, depicts an inspiring story of survival and courage and follows a brave group of women as they discover and test their own strength in a hostile environment. Sengbloh will play the role of Helena.

Sengbloh was born to an American mother and a Liberian father in Atlanta, Georgia USA. She has an impressive resume. Most recently she has starred in The Public in Hair and most recently in Marley at Centerstage Theater in Baltimore.

Her Broadway credits include Holler if Ya Hear Me; Wicked; Motown the Musical; Fela!; Hair; The Color Purple; Aida as well as the national tour of Rent and Hurt Village and Once On This Island Off-Broadway. She has also been in film and television in Finding Fela; Across the Universe; Funny Valentines; American Gangster; “Law & Order”; “The Good Wife” and “Criminal Justice”.
